Hello, My name is Chao Wu (伍超 in Chinese). I'm a tech founder based in San Diego, California.

Work

My current focus is working on AI products.

Before, I was a co-founder of the mobile game studio Redemption Games. I led engineering and product there for several games. Our most successful game Sweet Escapes grossed over eight figures annually. We were acquired by AppLovin in 2020.

Engineer by trade, I've worked with lots of technologies such as embedded software, web applications, mobile games, and AI. I am technology-agnostics and enjoying learning new tech. But most importantly, I love using tech to build things people want.

Beyond engineering, I have expanded my skills in product, marketing, and operations. The truth of being a founder is that you need to do everything that your startup needs.

Education

I earned a dual Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and Mathematics from Beihang University in China. Following that, I moved to the United States to pursue a PhD in Computer Science at Purdue University. However, I soon realized academia wasn’t for me, so I decided to drop out and start building my own startup.

Hobbies

Music has always been a big part of my life; I started playing the piano at 6 and took up guitar in college. My favorite genres are classic rock and blues.

I love outdoor sports, especially running, surfing and snowboarding.

Reading is another way I like to spend my leisure time. My favorite book genres are business, biographies and sci-fi novels.
